Norma was born November 25, 1925, in Hattiesburg, MS the daughter of George N. and Theta (P’Poole) Bryan. She was a graduate of McPherson High School, and then attended one year at Kansas State University. While at KSU she became a member of Delta Delta Delta Sorority and was a cheerleader. She earned her Associates Degree from Butler County Community College, Bachelor’s Degree from Wichita State University, Master’s Degree from Emporia State University, and Doctorate from the University of Southern Mississippi.
She taught English at El Dorado High School and taught gifted educational classes in various schools in Butler, Cowley and Sumner County schools before serving as the Director of Gifted Programs in those communities. Over the years she was active in Freya Club, P.E.O. and the Presbyterian Church. After her retirement from education, she served as co-owner and office manager at Rexoco, Inc. in El Dorado, KS.
Norma married Richard (Dick) Pearce of McPherson, KS on October 7, 1944, in San Diego, CA while he was stationed at U.S. Navy Air Corps.
Norma is survived by her daughter, Nancy (James) Carroll of Carriere, MS and son, Bryan (Debbie) Pearce of Winfield, KS; grandchildren, Jason (Jes) Pearce of Jacksonville, FL, Andrea (Mike) Ziser of Andover, KS, Ryan (Lundi) Carroll of Santa Rosa Beach, FL and Aaron Carroll of Carriere, MS; great-grandchildren, Nic Pearce, Hollie Pearce, Haley Ziser, Brett Ziser, Case Carroll, Coen Carroll; nephews, Randall Scott of New Orleans, LA and Sid Scott of Petal, MS; a niece, Kathryn Woods of Petal, MS.
She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Theta Bryan; her husband, Dick Pearce in 2010; and her sister, Virginia Scott.
