Doris Mae (O'Brien) Seglem, age 98, of McPherson, Kansas passed away on Tuesday, January 26, 2021. Doris was born on August 23, 1922 in Annis, Kansas to William and Grace O'Brien. She married the love of her life, Linton Olaf Seglem, on September 23, 1939 in Newton, Kansas. They spent 44 years of marital bliss together before he passed away on May 26, 1984. She loved being a farm wife and enjoyed working alongside Linton on their ranch east of El Dorado. She loved cooking for the harvest hands, being an active member of the local community club of township women and all other aspects of the farm life. After retiring and moving to El Dorado, Doris became a Pink Lady with Susan B Allen Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, which she lovingly served for over 20 years. She was very proud to earn the award of volunteer of the year for her work and being recognized for her many hours of volunteering. Doris was extremely active in the First United Methodist Church of El Dorado. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church circles and enjoyed the various circle duties, such as coordinating funeral dinners, helping with the Lords Acre sale and many other volunteer activities. She also enjoyed serving breakfast at the El Dorado senior center, she was a 4-H leader, and she worked for the election boards. Doris was very proud of her Irish heritage and adored her family. She was a very loving and devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great-great grandmother, who will be deeply missed by all that knew her.
Doris is preceded in death by her husband, Linton O. Seglem; children, Billy Pat Salmans and Robert L Seglem; 7 sisters; 3 brothers; and lifelong friend, Marie Mosier.
Doris is survived by her children, Janice (Michael) Kyser of Tulsa, OK; Bill (Donna) Seglem, of Weatherford, TX; Joni Dacus, of McPherson, KS; daughters-in-law, Marian Seglem of Odessa, TX, and Katherine Salmans of Meridian, TX; 16
grandchildren; 34 great grandchildren; 7 great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
