Donna Marie Smith

Donna’s life began on October 17, 1932 in Smileyberg, KS; the daughter of Raymond E. and Nellie G. (Lanier) Parry. She was united in marriage to the late Bobby Ray Smith, Sr. on December 29, 1952 in Douglass, KS, their marriage lasted for 53 years. Donna was the loving mother of four sons who she enjoyed supporting in all of their activities throughout their lives. Donna was a social butterfly and enjoyed eating at the Thunderbird Grill with her group of friends. She worked extremely hard providing and supporting her family. She operated the family oilfield business for many years and later went on to cook for Vanora/Oil Hill schools. After her retirement, Donna continued working at the Towanda State Bank for 14 years. She loved gardening, being outdoors, and watching sports. Donna’s greatest joy was her family which includes her children, Bobby Smith, Jr and the late Nancy (Simmons) Smith of El Dorado, daughter-in-law Jo (Warden) Smith and the late Billy Smith of Towanda, the late Berry Smith and Benny Smith (Lisa Simon) of Augusta; grandchildren Amy (Mike) Foes, Allison (Greg) Schulte, Christopher Smith, the late Angela Smith, Grant Smith, Andrew Smith, Tyler (Shauna) Smith, Sara Schabel, Carter (Madison) Smith and Savannah Smith; and 14 great-grandchildren. Friends may gather with the family from 5-7pm on Wednesday, April 13 at Carlson Colonial Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 14 at 2pm at Towanda United Methodist Church. Donna will be laid to rest at the Towanda Cemetery immediately following the service. Memorial contributions in her name may be directed to the Towanda United Methodist Women.
