Donald’s life began on September 7, 1936, in DeGraff, Kansas. He is the son of Arthur D. and Eula Mae (Ehrlich) Thomas. Donald was united in marriage to the former Pearl Guy on September 26, 1956, in the Leon Baptist Church. Donald spent 40 plus years in the oil fields as a pumper and roustabout. He also spent time as a rancher as a young man. Donald enjoyed playing his guitar, listening to George Jones country music, fishing, playing solitaire on his I-Pad, watching wrestling and RFD-TV. His greatest joy was his family which includes his children Annette (John T.) Smith of El Dorado, Dawn Bidwell of El Dorado, and Susan Pottorff of El Dorado; 10 grandchildren; 32 great grandchildren and his brother Lloyd (Jackie) Thomas of Towanda and several nieces and nephews. Donald passed away on March 1, 2018, at St. Francis Hospital in Wichita. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, Pearl, son, Bubba, and great grandson, Jeffrey. Donald’s family will gather with friends on Monday from 5-7 p.m. at Carlson Colonial Funeral Home where his funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday. He will be laid to rest in Sunset Lawns Cemetery. Memorial contributions in his name may be directed to the American Diabetes Association.
