October 15, 1934 ~ May 11, 2018 (age 83) 83 Years Old

Tribute

Dixie Lee Rose (Harper) Dickson passed away at the age of 83 on Friday, May 11, 2018.  Born and raised in El Dorado, Kansas, Dixie met the love of her life, Roy Dickson, at El Dorado High School.  The two were married for 61 years and raised two children together. Dixie graduated from El Dorado Junior College in 1955.  She attended Emporia State Teachers College from 1957-1959 and began working as a schoolteacher.  While raising children of her own, Dixie touched the lives of many children throughout her years of teaching.  She later worked at El Dorado Senior Center for approximately 10 years.  In May 2004, Dixie accepted a position as the Senior Center Manager for the City of Sachse and made the big move to Texas together with her husband. Dixie has always spread love wherever she has been and Texas was no different.  Immediately, she called Sachse home and made life-long friends.  The Senior Center was never a "job" for Dixie--she humbly served the city of Sachse and seniors across the community.  She loved the Senior Center and spread love to every person she encountered.
Dixie was truly a blessing to the hundreds of people she knew.  She has touched countless lives with her caring and nurturing spirit.  Dixie's kindness, thoughtfulness, jokes, and love will always be remembered. She is survived by her two children: Dan Dickson and Angela Claycamp.  Her grandchildren include: Danica Dickson, Kayla Breedlove, Angel Bice, Nicole Messamaker, Mitchell Dickson, Luke James, and Megan James.  She is also survived by 11 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Dickson, her parents Sam O. Harper and Nora V. Gibson.  Dixie was also preceded in death by her children Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John, and her great-granddaughter, Lillian James.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, June 2, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church of El Dorado.
