Tribute

Derek’s life began on July 25, 1990, in Arkansas City, Kansas. When he was 5 years old he was adopted by Terry and Sandra “Sandy” (Baker) Bell. Derek had Cerebral Palsy and the family loved him and lovingly cared for him throughout his life. He was a blessing and an encouragement to so many. Derek graduated from Flint Hills High School Class of 2011. He was a member of New Life Equipping Ministry Church, and loved music. He enjoyed watching game shows on TV, bright lights and anything that made noise. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

His loving family includes his parents, Terry and Sandy Bell of Rosalia; sisters, Jamie Bell of Augusta, Amanda Bell of El Dorado, Rachel Bell of Rosalia and Patricia Bell of El Dorado; maternal grandparents, Robert and Patsy Baker of Oakland, Arkansas; paternal grandparents, Marion and Margaret Bell of Rosalia; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

His family will gather with friends on Wednesday, August 8, from 5-7 pm at Carlson Funeral Home. His funeral will be Thursday, at 11:00 am, at First Baptist Church of El Dorado with Pastor Sam McVay of New Life Equipping Ministry Church officiating.

Derek was preceded in death by his aunt, Jenny (Sundgren) Baker; uncle, Shane Baker and aunt, Marcella Bell. Derek passed away Friday, August 3, 2018, having reached the age of 28 years old.
