Delores Jean Smith, known as “Babe/Dee”, age 87, passed away on March 4, 2021 at LakePoint Nursing and Rehab Center in El Dorado. She was born on January 26, 1934 in Tacoma, WA; the daughter of George S. and Marie B. (Neslund) Karbo. Dee had 8 siblings. She was united in marriage to Air Force Tech-Sergeant William J. Smith “Smitty” on December 6, 1951 in Vancouver, WA.
She is survived by siblings Kenneth R. Karbo and Phyllis E. Stafford; then by daughters and son in law Katherine Crisp, Jim Crisp, Linda Smith, Sue Irwin, and Bob Irwin; grandchildren Kristina Prince, Donald Prince, Karen Burinson, David Anderson, and Ramanda Smith; great-grandchildren Cody Prince, Kayla Good, Ashley Prince, Sierra Prince, Michael Prince, and Colton Richey; Great-Great-grandchildren; Lily Good and Aspen Good.
She is preceded in by death by parents, George S. Karbo and Marie B. Neslund; then by siblings Jeanette E. Strafford, Richard A. Karbo, Georgene Cranston, Sharon L. Dziubak, Ronald W. Karbo, and John Karbo, and by her husband William J. Smith Jr.
When she wasn’t with the family she would crochet, craft, quilt, seamstress, decorate, or hard at work. She was the definition of Grace. She lived her life full of passion through creating beauty all around.
A beloved daughter, wife, mother, sister, grandmother of five generations, and friend. I love you, I’ve always loved you and will love you forever.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday, March 8, 2021, at White Chapel Cemetery in Wichita. Friends and family are gathering for the viewing on Sunday, March 7, 2021, from 2:00-5:00 PM at Carlson Funeral Home in El Dorado, Kansas. The family would like to express their thanks to LakePoint Nursing home and Interim hospice for taking wonderful care of her.
