Delores’ life began on September 22, 1930 in Clay Center, Kansas; the daughter of Wilbur and Margaret (Tippin) Nemnich. Delores graduated from Clay Center High School in 1948. Delores was united in marriage to Pat Hemphill on January 2, 1949 in Clay Center. She had a passion for education and went on to graduate from Kansas State University in 1977 with a bachelor’s degree in Family and Child Development. Delores went on to earn her master’s degree in 1979 in Family Studies. She taught for a year at Kansas State University and moved to Columbia, MO in 1980. She worked for Columbia Regional Hospital and started her own training personnel company. Delores loved teaching adults, her beloved dogs, music and reading. Her greatest joy was her family, which includes her children, Debra (David) Hall, El Dorado, KS. Susan (Galen) Jackson, Wichita, KS, Brian (Natalie) Hemphill, Clay Center, KS, Brent (Deanna) Hemphill Jefferson, MO; grandchildren Josh (Amy) Hall, Justin (Ronalyn Perez) Hall, Ryan (Kristy) Jackson, Derek Jackson, Brett and William Hemphill, and granddaughter Landrie Hemphill. Step-grandchildren Daniel Merica, Garrett (Becca) Bentlage , Madelyn,(James) Bernskoetter, Great-grandchildren Paxton and Harper Hall, Nathan Jackson and Farrah Bentlage and sister Joyce Savener. Delores went to be with her Lord and Savior on December 7, 2020 with family at her side. She is preceded in death by her husband, Pat and her parents. Cremation has taken place and due to the pandemic, private family services will be held. Friends may gather for a time of visitation from 5-8pm on Friday, December 18, 2020 at Neill-Schwensen-Rook Funeral Home, 918 7th Street, Clay Center, KS.
