Lifelong El Dorado resident Dale Haskell died Monday, October 28, at the Rolling Hills Health and Rehabilitation Center in Wichita. He was 86 years of age.
He was born December 5, 1932 in Latham, Kansas, the son of Warren B. and Helen V. (Charles) Haskell. He attended and graduated from El Dorado High School with the class of 1950.
Dale faithfully served his country in the United States Army from 1953 until his honorable discharge in February 1955.
On May 5, 1955, Dale was united in marriage to Doris F. Haring in El Dorado. The couple were blessed with four children, Carolyn, Donna, Jerry, and Tom.
Dale worked as an oil field worker for White and Ellis Drilling Co., then went to work at the Pester Refinery in El Dorado as an operator.
Dale enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren’s sporting events. He liked to fish, he enjoyed pencil drawing and outings and camping with his family.
Those left to cherish his memory are his children, Carolyn (Mark) Erpelding of Owasso, Oklahoma, Donna (Kelly) Read of Wichita, Kansas, Jerry (Vickie) Haskell of Potwin, Kansas, and Tom Haskell of Wichita, Kansas; grandchildren, Greg (Stephanie) Erpelding, Tiffany (Matt) Stewart, Brad (Lindsey) Read, Lindsay (Alex) Simon, Aaron Haskell, Kristi Haskell, Tyler Haskell, and Brock Haskell. Great-grandchildren, Carly Erpelding, Eric Erpelding, Logan Read, Easton Head, Payton Haskell, Kinleigh Haskell, and Brody Haskell; sister, Betty (Phil) Wiles of Wichita.
Preceding Dale in death were his parents, his loving wife Doris, and two siblings Marge Vittito and Harold Haskell.
A visitation with the family will be held at Carlson Funeral Home in El Dorado in Thursday, October 31 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM.
A graveside service, with U.S. Army Military Honors, will be held on Friday, November 1, 2019 at 11:00 AM at the Walnut Valley Memorial Park on Boyer Road in El Dorado.
Dale’s family suggests memorials be made in his name to either the Wounded Warriors Foundation or to Children’s Mercy Hospital in Kansas City.
