Connie’s life began on June 27, 1939 in Chanute. She is the daughter of Elmo G. and Elma (Weide) Cope. Connie is a 1957 graduate of Rosalia High School. She was united in marriage to Martin Copeland on October 26, 1971 in Augusta. Connie served as the postmaster of the Rosalia Post Office for 31 years. She was a member of Rosalia United Methodist Church. Connie enjoyed working in her yard, and her flowers. She loved watching the kids and grandchildren and especially loved her dogs. Her greatest joy was her family which includes her children Scott (Patsy) Cronk of Emporia, Marci (Brett) Macy of Potwin, and Chris (Kevin) Grove of El Dorado; grandchildren Michelle Cronk, Nikki (Eric) Gerringer, Lindsay (DeWayne) Lyons, Caleb (Kristy) McNary, Isaac (Alana) McNary, Andrew (Amy) McNary, Heather (Colton) Garcia, Stacy (Bobby) Grove, Jill Grove and Stuart Sullivan; 15 great grandchildren; siblings Joe Cope of Rosalia, Steve (Lynda) Cope of El Dorado, “Pete” (Dean) Bender of Rosalia and brother in law, Tom Hinton; and Tulip the Pug of the home. Connie went home to her Lord and Savior on December 9, 2017 at Susan B. Allen Memorial Hospital. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, sisters Arlene Hinton and Darlene Dorsett, brother in law, Richard Dorsett and sister in law Judy Cope and Roscoe the Pug. Her family will gather with friends on Wednesday from 5-7 p.m. at Carlson Colonial Funeral Home where her funeral service will be held on Thursday at 11 a.m. led by Davis Laughlin. Connie will be laid to rest in Blankenship Cemetery. Memorial contributions in her name may be directed to the Rosalia Kid’s Club in care of the Rosalia United Methodist Church or to Autism Speaks.
