Hazel’s life began on December 8, 1924 in Cassoday, KS; the daughter of Jesus and Frances (Martinez) Moreno. She was united in marriage to Joe S. De Leon in 1948. She worked hard for her family keeping her home. Hazel enjoyed sewing and made many outfits for her children. She enjoyed gardening and cooking. Hazel was extremely social and loved to visit her friends. With a loving heart, she never knew a stranger. Hazel loved her faith and was a devoted member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Her family includes her children Joseph (Catherine) De Leon of Covington, WA, Suzanna (Joe)Warner of St. Clair Shores, MI, Arthur De Leon of Augusta, KS and Jacque Brown of Derby, KS; 10 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren; siblings Martin Moreno and John Moreno. Hazel passed away on June 9, 2022 in Augusta, KS. She is preceded in death by her husband, Joe De Leon; sons, David De Leon and Edward De Leon and her parents. Friends may gather with the family from 5-7pm on Monday, June 13 at Carlson Funeral Home. A rosary will be held at 10am on Tuesday, June 14 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30am.
