Betty Jo Weikal was born February 14, 1928 in Kingman Kansas to Frank E. Weikal and Ada (Legget) Weikal. After high school Betty studied Nursing at St. Mary’s Hospital in Enid, Oklahoma. During college Betty met Bob Stucky on a trip home in Kingman. She graduated from St. Mary’s in 1950. Betty married Robert (Bob) Stucky on July 22, 1951 in the Kingman First Christian Church.
The couple moved to El Dorado Kansas in 1952. Betty first worked at Susan B. Allen Hospital, but after her children were in school she began work as the office nurse for George W. Hamel at the El Dorado Clinic. She continued in that role for the next 30 years.
During these years she also raised three children; Monty Stucky of O’Fallon, Il, Marla (Daniel) Haug of Culpeper, VA and Myron (Jenny) Stucky of Topeka, KS.
She enjoyed attending her children’s school activities and sporting events. Betty was a very skilled seamstress including sewing, counted cross stitching and quilting. She grew up playing the piano and often played at church services at the El Dorado Christian Church where Bob and Betty joined in 1952 after arriving in El Dorado.
Betty has three granddaughters: Janae Haug of Denver, CO, Elise Haug of Fredericksburg, VA and Sarah Haug of Washington DC. She was always willing to drop everything to help with their care whenever needed.
Betty passed away in Topeka Kansas on July 11, 2020. Her husband Bob and her parents preceded her in death. Memorial services will be scheduled at a later date. Please sign guest book and leave messages and memories at www.carlsoncolonial.com
