Beth Ann Thomas, 84, of Colony, KS died April 22, 2020 in Yates Center, KS. Beth, the daughter of Harry and Alice (Blizzard) Hurlock, was born May 10, 1935 in Iola, KS. She graduated from Eudora, KS in 1953 and moved to El Dorado to join the nursing program.
When Beth decided to marry in 1955, she had to leave the program as only single ladies were allowed. After the birth of her 3 children she chose to return to nursing at Butler County Community College in El Dorado where she began her nursing career at Susan B. Allen Memorial Hospital.
Beth will always be remembered for her warm smile, infectious laugh, compassion for her patients, love of her family, orneriness and Mexican Cornbread.
Beth married Russell Thomas of Colony on July 16, 2007 where they resided until her death. Beth also has 3 children in which she instilled the importance of hard work. David Grosch of Abilene, TX, Linda (Bob) Baines and Tom (Missy) Storrer of El Dorado, KS. Grandchildren, Lindsay (Stephen) Mills, Jason Grosch, Holly (Jim) Garner, Markie (Chris) Duntz, Shelbie Storrer, Erin Storrer and 8 great grandchildren will all miss her laugh and feisty nature.
Beth was preceded in death by her parents, 3 brothers and 6 sisters.
