Bessie’s life began on March 22, 1925 in Wellington, TX. She is the daughter of Robert and Munervia (Ray) Lamb. As children, Bessie and her siblings worked in the cotton fields to help in support of their family and even sang on the radio, not for pay but for groceries. Her upbringing molded her into a strong family oriented lady who later took great pride in raising her children. Bessie was united in marriage to Raymond Ross on June 2, 1941 in El Dorado. She was a homemaker. Bessie is survived by her loving children Vernon (Vona) Ross of Lakeview, AR, Billy Ross of Rosalia, Coletta (Jr.) Willhite of Rosalia, Patricia (Larry) Hinkle of Whitewater and Jim ( Kay) Ross of El Dorado; many, many, many grandchildren and great grandchildren; her brother Curtis Lamb in Rush Springs, OK and sister Lois Allen in Oklahoma City. Bessie passed away on Monday July 16, 2018 at Susan B. Allen Memorial Hospital. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Raymond, daughter Sharon Jones, brother Ray and sister Dorothy. Her family will gather with friends on Friday from 5-7 p.m. at the Carlson Colonial Funeral Home where her service will be held on Saturday at 10 a.m. led by Pastor Debbie McCluer of the First Nazarene Church. She will be laid to rest in Sunset Lawns Cemetery following the service. Memorial contributions in Bessie’s name may be directed to the First Nazarene Church.
