Barbara J. Dawson’s life began on November 23, 1947 in Wichita, KS; the daughter of Floyd and June (Dodson) Burden. She was a graduate of Leon High School. Barbara worked as an emergency dispatcher for Butler County and then went on to retire as an administrator for the Butler County Sheriff’s Department. Barbara was a “soccer mom” before it was cool. She attended as many of her children’s sporting and school activities as she could. Keeping a passion for sports, she especially enjoyed KU baseball and basketball. Barbara loved sewing and was a talented seamstress. She could make just about anything. Her family includes her children, Correna (Tommie) McClure of Colorado Springs, CO, Jason (Crystal) Guy of El Dorado, Dusty (Bethany) Gray of Augusta, grandchildren Sara, Joel, Spencer, Amber, Trevor and Austin, great grandchildren Macie, Paisley, Roan and Oliver; siblings Stephen, Beckye and Cathye. Barbara passed away on November 16, 2022 at her home in El Dorado. She is preceded in death by her parents. Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, November 22 at 10am at Leon Cemetery, Leon, KS.
