Arthur “Art” L. Cameron’s life began on September 25, 1942 in El Dorado, KS, the son of Howard and Fay (Bradford) Cameron. He lived in Oil Hill Township until it was closed and his family moved to El Dorado. Art earned a degree in Criminal Justice from Butler County Community College in 1976. He was united in marriage to Marianne Brenner on October 22, 1977 in El Dorado. Art worked hard for his family in the El Dorado Department of Public Safety from 1970-2000. He worked in both law enforcement and fire safety, eventually choosing to continue with law enforcement. Art once said the he chose his profession because he “wanted to help people.” Art retired as an El Dorado Police Captain after 30 years of service. Art enjoyed being with family, woodworking, playing solitaire on the iPad, and sitting on his breezeway or around a table drinking coffee with friends. His greatest joy was his family which includes his wife, Marianne of El Dorado; children Tricia Cameron of Kansas City, MO, Andy (Mary Lee) Norris of Baldwin City, and Abby (Manolito) Munoz of Andover. Art was a proud Grandpa and ‘Papa’ to Ian Nelson, Tori Nelson, Desmond (Hannah) Norris, Molly and Macy Munoz and a great-grandpa to Elise Gustavsson-Norris. Art was a loving uncle to Kerri Engstrand and Pandora Adams. Art also leaves behind his dog, Ruby. Art passed away on March 19, 2022 in El Dorado. He is preceded in death by his parents, brother, Lewis and beloved pets, Sam, Belle and Rosie.
Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, April 2 at the El Dorado Civic Center from 1-3 pm. Family and friends welcome. In lieu of memorial contributions or flowers, please do an act of kindness in memory of Art".
