Anita Louise Peterson

Anita Louise Peterson, teacher and homemaker, went to be with her Heavenly father on September 21, 2021. She was born on March 31, 1940 in Hewitt, OK to John and Edra (Battles) Rutledge. As a child, she lived in Wilson, Ok, Beaumont, TX, and Casper, WY, before her family settled in Humboldt, KS. She graduated from Humboldt High School and attended Pittsburgh State University, where she graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Teaching. She taught in the Humboldt, Chanute and El Dorado Kansas School Districts. She was married to Leland Merle Peterson on December 27, 1969. They had two sons, Leland and Michael, and four grandchildren, Dimera, Liberty, Teyla, and Landon. She was active in her Church and enjoyed her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Edra, a sister, Rita Rutledge, a brother, Ronald Rutledge, and a brother in law, Bruce Johansen. She is survived by her husband, Leland Peterson, her sons, Leland (Shonda) Peterson, Jr. and Michael (Michelle) Peterson, grandchildren, Dimera, Liberty, Teyla, and Landon, her sisters, DeAnna (Jim) Woods, Carolyn (Mel) North, Marylyn (Jack) Ellis, and Angie (Larry) Noyce, her brother Tom (Judy) Rutledge, sister in law, Judy Peterson-Johansen, and brother in law Richard (Cindy) Peterson.
A memorial service will be held for Anita on October 30, 2021 at 2 PM at the Family Worship Center in El Dorado, KS.
