Randy’s life began on July 2, 1950, the son of Glen LeRoy and Mary Evelyn (Bennett) Culbertson in Fredonia, Kansas. He graduated from Fredonia High, Class of 1968, and married Mary Ann Bambick June 12, 1971, also in Fredonia. In 1972 Randy received his Bachelors of Education Degree and in 1979, received his Master’s in Education Administration both from Emporia State University. For 32 years he was involved in elementary education; 29 with El Dorado Public Schools and 14 as the principal at Jefferson and Lincoln Elementary Schools.

Randy loved his family, following his children and grandchildren in their endeavors, whether sports or any of their activities. He loved Notre Dame and K-State sports. He also enjoyed Julia Roberts’ movies, and was a lover of music and musicals. Randy was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, and the KNEA. He was also a CYO sponsor.

His loving family includes his wife of 45 years, Mary Ann, of El Dorado; children, John (Justine) Culbertson of Lawrence, Kansas, Regie (Jim) Fulghum of Wichita, Ashley (Todd) Kelty of Wichita, Jessie (Shea) Walter of Andover and Drew Culbertson of Wichita; sisters, Brenda (Dale) Spaht of Oswego, Kansas, and Ruby (Charles) Hughes of Altamont, Kansas; 8 grandchildren, Tailor, Michael, Alex, Eli, Evan, Will, Korbin and Rory.

Randy was preceded in death by his parents, Glen and Evelyn Culbertson, and a brother Dee Culbertson. Randy passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 6, 2016, surrounded by his family, having reached the age of 66 years old.

His family will gather with friends on Tuesday, May 9, from 5-7 p.m. at Carlson Colonial Funeral Home. Rosary will be Wednesday, May 10, at 9:30 a.m. with Mass following at 10:00 a.m. Both will be held at St. John’s Catholic Church with Father Brian Bebak officiating. Randy will be laid to rest in the Sacred Heart Cemetery, Fredonia, Kansas at 2:00 p.m. with Father Dan Vacca officiating.
