Leo Goodwin

June 30, 1931 ~ November 18, 2017 (age 86) 86 Years Old
Leo’s life began on June 30, 1931 in Mound Valley, Kansas. He is the son of Lawrence E. and Alma (Alexander) Goodwin. Leo graduated from Mound Valley High School in 1949. He went to work as a pipefitter for Skelly Oil in El Dorado, later Getty Oil and retiring after 30 years of service from the refinery with Texaco. Leo was a member of the Patmos Masonic Lodge in El Dorado and active in the Midian Shrine since 1957 in Wichita. He truly enjoyed his work with the Shriner’s and his friends in the Shrine. Leo was an avid clock enthusiast. In his meticulous and organized workshop; He built clocks, repaired clocks, collected clocks and just loved tinkering with his clocks. Leo also enjoyed square dancing and polka dancing in his younger years. His greatest joy was his family which includes his daughters Sue Jost of Whitewater and Cathy (Alan) Nagy of Brighton, CO; grandchildren Joseph Nagy, Jessica (Jeremy) Brame, Barbara Jo Hamlin, Pamela Altis, Destiny (James) Bronson and Ashley Jost; 13 great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren. Leo passed away at his home on November 18, 2017. He is preceded in death by his parents, two granddaughters Julie E. Pollock and Jodie M. Nagy; and siblings Fern Doile, Evelyn Runyan, Helen Belt, and Elmer Goodwin. His family will gather with friends on Friday from 5-7 p.m. at Carlson Colonial Funeral Home where his funeral service will be held on Saturday at 10 a.m. led by Pastor Stan Seymour. Leo will be laid to rest in Sunset Lawns Cemetery following the service. Memorial contributions in his name may be directed to the Make-A-Wish Foundation or Amedisys Hospice Foundation.
