Lea June Cook

December 19, 1943 ~ October 22, 2017 (age 73) 73 Years Old
Lea’s life began on December 19, 1943 in Saline County. She is the daughter of Leo A. and Catherine V. (Pickering) Bachofer. Lea graduated as valedictorian of Kipp High School and attended Marymount College. She was united in marriage to Jack D. Cook on June 27, 1964. Lea worked for Southwestern Bell for 26 years as a communications consultant. She was a parishioner of St. James Catholic Church in Augusta for over 35 years. Lea enjoyed crossword puzzles and playing scrabble but she mostly was a hard working lady caring for her home, family and friends. Her loving family includes her children Jacqueline (Chris) Cook Green, Bryce (Lori) Cook, and Jennie (Matt) Hunn; grandchildren Logan (Megan) Gnerlich, Bryce Gnerlich, Demi Gnerlich, Gerald Gnerlich, Jack Cook, Will Cook, Rose Cook, Tyler Dennett and Preston Dennett; great grandchildren Eva, Lucca, Lea and Liam; and her siblings Roger Bachofer, Ross Bachofer, Charlie Bachofer and Arlyn Bachofer. Lea passed away at her home on Sunday October 22, 2017. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Jack, son Gerald and brother Rodney. Her family will gather with friends for her rosary on Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. at St. James Catholic Church, Augusta where her mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. by Father Michael Shemm. She will be laid to rest in Sutton Cemetery. Memorial contributions in Lea’s name may be directed to the St. Vincent de Paul Society. Carlson Funeral Home is serving the family.
