Jo Ann’s life began on November 27, 1934 in El Dorado. She is the daughter of Ross and
Billie (Sweek) Cook. Jo Ann was united in marriage to Chuck Simon on April 7, 1956 at St.
John’s Catholic Church in El Dorado. Jo Ann had been employed at USD 492 Flinthills
Schools for several years and also enjoyed being a homemaker. She was a faithful
parishioner of St. John’s Catholic Church in El Dorado. Jo Ann loved to cook, especially
her grandchildren’s favorites. She followed all her grandchildren’s school and athletic
activities and 4H events; she was their Number 1 fan. She is survived by her husband of
61 years Chuck Simon of Leon, daughter Syndi (Steve) Wilson of Lindsborg, son Mike
(Laureen) Simon of Leon, grandchildren Courtney (Troy) Robl, Jacob (Maricarmen) Simon,
Brianne (Josh) Taylor, Renee (Zack) Schaffer, Tyler (Ashley Dauer) Wilson, Seth Wilson
and Barrett Simon, great grandchildren Ashtyn and Austyn Robl and her brother Johnie
(Sue) Cook of Wichita. Jo Ann passed away on Saturday February 18, 2017 at her home.
She is preceded in death by her son Marc Simon, brother Aubrey A. Cook, and
grandchildren Miles Wilson and Mikaela Simon. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated
on Saturday, February 25 at 10 a.m. at St. John’s Catholic Church by Father Brian Bebak.
There will be a Rosary at 9:30 a.m. preceding the mass. She will be laid to rest in
Blankenship Cemetery. Memorial contributions in Jo Ann’s name may be directed to
Flinthills Schools Theatre Department or Flinthills 4-H Club. Carlson Funeral Home is
