Helen Gordon’s life began on August 24, 1928 the daughter of Elder L. and Eva M. (Payne) Snyder in Nixa, MO. She grew up on a dairy farm and attended elementary and high school in Strafford, MO. She earned her BA degree in music at Drury College in Springfield. Helen was united in marriage to Irvan “Jack” Gordon on November 25, 1954 in Garden City, KS. Helen taught music in Holcomb, Garden City and El Dorado. She also taught private piano lessons. Helen was a member of TOPS for over 20 years. Helen was a breast cancer survivor. Helen passed away on December 6, 2017 in El Dorado. Her loving family includes her son Mark (Kerri) Gordon of El Dorado; grandchildren Levi (Jennifer) Nachbor of Bartlesville, OK, Efrem (Misty) Plummer of Augusta, Mia (Josh) King of Pea Ridge, AR, Kelsie Gordon of Wichita; 9 great-grandchildren and her beloved dog, Sissy. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Jack and grandson Derrick Plummer. Friends may gather with the family from 2-5 on Sunday December 10 at Carlson Funeral Home where her funeral will be held at 2pm on Monday December 11. She will be laid to rest at Sunset Lawns Cemetery. Memorial contributions in her name may be directed to Heartland Hospice.
