Gerald’s life began on July 24, 1958 in El Dorado. He is the son of Gerald A. Matthews, Sr. and Ramona (Tucker) Hurlbert. Gerald was employed by LMI Aerospace in Cottonwood Falls. He was an avid golfer, enjoying many rounds with his boys. Gerald enjoyed fishing, chess and spending time with his soul mate Deb. He is survived by his mother Ramona Hurlbert, companion Debbie Reiter, sons Jerry (Heather) Matthews and Greg Matthews, daughter Kelly Blair, sisters Sharon Baroco, Leta Nixon and Julie Schrader; Deb’s children Chad McCoy, Jenna (Nate) Vice, Matthew (Jessica) McCoy; grandchildren Sydney Matthews, Laken Matthews, Greg Matthews, Jr., Cutter Matthews, Ethan Matthews and Daxton Blair; Deb’s grandchildren Laythan, Axton, Sadie, Savannah, Aiden and Elizabeth; and his dog “Missy the Boxer”. Gerald passed away suddenly on February 1, 2018 at Susan B. Allen Memorial Hospital. He is preceded in death by his father.
