Genevieve’s life began on December 14, 1920 in El Dorado. She is the daughter of Lew R. and Dorothy (Roberts) McKinzie. Genevieve is a 1938 graduate of El Dorado High School. She was united in marriage to Virgil “Smitty” Smith on August 11, 1953 in Detroit, MI. Genevieve worked outside the home for Boeing but ultimately was a homemaker. She loved being around her family, she loved her tool and could literally fix anything. Her loving family includes her children Debbie (Kevin) Belknap of Wichita, and Kay Zang of El Dorado; grandchildren Tammy (Mark) Dewey, Jennifer (Stephen) Loyd, Kelsie Belknap, Cody Belknap, and Jana (Pedro) Gordillo; several great grandchildren and great great grandchildren and her sister in law Irene McKinzie. Genevieve passed away on October 4, 2017 at Homestead of El Dorado. She is preceded in death by her parents, daughter Dorothy Woods, and her husband Virgil “Smitty”. Her family will gather with friends at 11 a.m. Friday October 6th at Sunset Lawns Cemetery for a graveside service. Carlson Funeral Home is serving the family.
