Darrell’s life began on July 3, 1938, the son of Frederick Ernest and Marie (Stevens) Lydick in LaVante, Kansas. He attended schools in Grant Pass, Missouri. He was a truck driver, carpenter and a scrap metal recycler. Darrell built his first house fully - timber and all. He was a former member of the Wichita Mo-Par Club and enjoyed woodworking.
His loving family includes his daughters, Jean (Wayne) Meairs of Sand Springs, Oklahoma, Nancee Zeek of Douglass; son, Wayne (Carolyn) Lydick of El Dorado; step-sons, Emery and Roger Miller both of Jacksonville, Florida; step-daughter, Irene Miller of Leon; sisters, Mary Ann Lydick of Harrison, Arkansas and Bonnie Rederick of Phoenix, Arizona; grandchildren, Shawn Smith, Christopher Reese, Stephanie Reese, Jason Reese, Kaylinn Williams, Justin Hall, Chrissy Hall, Daniel Orman, Brandon Orman, Sarah Ivey, Sheri Meairs and C.W. Meairs; 33 great-grandchildren. Darrell passed away Saturday, October 14, 2017, having reached the age of 79 years old.
Darrell’s family will gather on Tuesday, October 17, from 5-7 to greet friends and family at Carlson Funeral Home. His graveside service will be held Wednesday, October 18, at Latham Cemetery at 9:30 a.m. His funeral service will follow at 11:30 a.m. at Crossroads Baptist Church with Pastor Bill Riffee officiating.
