Family visitation will precede the mass at the church with a rosary at 9:30 a.m. Inurnment will be in Blankenship Cemetery, Rosalia. Chuck was born on March 23, 1935 at home in Valley Center to Roman and Pauline (Lies) Simon. His family moved to Rosalia in 1948. He was united in marriage to JoAnn Cook on April 7, 1956 at St. John’s Catholic Church. Chuck farmed and ranched his entire life, raising registered and commercial Angus cattle. He was a good and knowledgeable cattleman, with lots of stock savvy, was good on horseback and loved the land and his cattle. Chores, checking cows and discussing cattle breeding decisions with his son were the times he felt most at home. He worked at Skelly Refinery from 1963 until his retirement in 1993. After retirement, he and JoAnn ran an antique business. He loved finding good pieces of old furniture and refinishing them. Chuck had great sense of humor and loved to tease, especially JoAnn when the grandkids were around to egg him on! He enjoyed going to events and activities that his grandkids were involved in; from plays to football, basketball, track, and cross country meets. He is survived by daughter Syndi (Steve) Wilson of Lindsborg, son Mike (Laureen) Simon of Leon; grandchildren Courtney (Troy) Robl, Jacob (Maricarmen) Simon, Brianne (Josh) Taylor, Renee (Zack) Schaffer, Tyler (Ashlee Dauer) Wilson, Seth Wilson, and Barrett Simon; great grandchildren Ashtyn and Austyn Robl and Henry Schaffer; sister Nadine Girrens and brother RP (Jackie) Simon.
