Blaine Frances Miller

January 15, 1952 ~ December 26, 2017 (age 65) 65 Years Old
Blaine F. Miller was born January 15, 1952 in Wichita, Kansas, the son of Glenn and Marcella Miller. He grew up in Wichita and enjoyed school, sports, and helping his parent’s cattle business in the Burns, Kansas area. After graduating from Kapaun High School and then Wichita State University, he started his 43 years of employment in the oil business. On August 4, 1974, he married Susan Kraus and they were blessed with two children, Jason and Kelly. Blaine became employed with Triad Drilling and was eventually moved to Oklahoma City where he continued employment with the same company until 2004. The company changed ownership a few times and was finally Patterson UTI. Blaine was a loving caregiver to Susan while she battled cancer for five years until passing on October 27, 1996. In 2005, he moved back to Wichita where he has since been employed with Murfin Drilling Company, as Drilling Manager, as well as, managed his own successful and constantly growing cow/calf operation. Blaine met his second wife, Jan Stark, in 2005 and they were married April 4, 2016. He and Jan have enjoyed working and growing his cattle business, spending time with family and friends, cheering loudly at Shocker basketball games, playing golf, working in their chosen careers and living a quiet life in their “little house on the prairie”. He leaves behind a family that he loved very much, his wife Jan, daughter Kelly Proffit, son in law Chad Proffit, four beautiful grandchildren Kaden, Lilly, Paxton, and Palmer, his brother Craig Miller, as well as, step-daughter Shaun Crumley, step-grandchildren Taylor and Alyssa, mother in law Beverly Kaup, and sister’s in law Julie Preisser, Jeanne (John) Shaft and Jennifer (Aaron) May. Blaine passed away at his home on December 26, 2017. He is preceded in death by his parents, son, Jason Miller, and father in law Gene Kaup. Blaine will be remember as being passionate about his Black Angus cattle business, loving to his family, kind and generous to friends and acquaintances, a professional in the oil industry, and always ready to share a genuine big smile. The Miller family is very thankful to the Cancer Center of Kansas, the wonderful caregivers of Harry Hynes Hospice, and for the support, prayers, meals, and warm thoughts from friends and family during difficult times. Friends will gather with family on Saturday at 11 a.m. at Carlson Colonial Funeral Home for his memorial service.
