Harvey R. Holden, 92 of El Dorado, died Sunday, July 25 at St. Francis Hospital in Wichita surrounded by his loving family. Services will be 10:00 A.M.,...
Harvey R. Holden, 92 of El Dorado, died Sunday, July 25 at St. Francis Hospital in Wichita surrounded by his loving family. Services will be 10:00 A.M., Thurs. July 29 at Carlson Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Walnut Valley Memorial Park with Military Honors. Visitation with the family will be Wednesday evening, July 28 from 6:00 to 7:30 P.M. at Carlson Funeral Home.
He was born on November 7, 1917 in Cherryvale, Kansas the son of Earl J. and Lula (Harper) Holden. Harvey graduated from Blackwell, Oklahoma High School with the Class of 1935. He joined the US Army and served in Normandy, D-Day and Germany. Upon returning home after the War, he became a welder and a local business owner. He belonged to the Plumbers and Pipefitters Union #441, Wichita; was a 32nd Degree Mason; a member of the VFW; American Legion; Moose and Elk Clubs, and a lifetime member of the NRA. As a young man he was a Golden Glove boxer and enjoyed riding his Indian Motorcycle. In his later years he enjoyed raising horses; reading, working on his farm and especially being with his family.
On January 24, 1953 he married Mildred Frogge in Bartlesville, Oklahoma.
Those who survive including his wife of the home are his daughters Jean Howard and husband Amster, Lakewood, Colorado; Beth McKeithan, San Antonio, Texas; Ame Holden and husband Steve Cox, Oceanside, California; a sister Ermal Hentrich, Beaumont, Texas; grandchildren Kevin Rino, Milise Rino; several nieces and nephews; brother-in-law Kay Brown and sister-in-law Virginia Brown, Beaumont, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister Dortha and a brother Harold.
In Lieu of flowers the family request memorials in his memory for either Parkinson Foundation or the Cancer Society.
