Obituary for George A. Worrell
George Albert Worrell, Jr., 68 of Leon, died at his home in Leon, Friday, Feb. 26. Services will be 2:00 PM, Wed., March 3 at Leon Methodist Church. Visitation with the family will be from 6:00 to 7:30 Tues, March 2 at Carlson Funeral Home, El Dorado. Interment will follow the funeral services in Leon Cemetery.
He was born on January 7, 1942 the son of George Albert and Virginia Rose (Boley) Worrell, Sr. He spent all his life in the Leon area and graduated from Leon High School. George had sold feed for Ralco Feeds. He had attended Ark City College on a football scholarship.
He served on the Glencoe Township Board and the Leon City Council. He loved shooting clay, gardening, watching wrestling, hunting, drag racing, tools and helping other people. He especially enjoyed smoking meats for the Leon Harvest Home Festival and the frisco Watertower Festival in Beaumont.
Those who survive are a daughter Chelsea, Leon; a son Ryan and wife Bre’De, Augusta; brothers and their spouses—John and Sandra Worrell, Leon; Steve and Susan Worrell, Wichita; Dave and Nancy Worrell, Andover; an aunt Helen Boley, Derby; a step-daughter and husband Tina and Jeff Warren, El Dorado; a step-son and wife Kenny and Tammy Hunnell, Halstead; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by both parents and a brother Dent E. Worrell.
